NEVERMIND

Accessibility statement

NEVERMIND takes equal, accessible service seriously, including for people with disabilities. We keep working on the accessibility of the site, in line with Israeli Standard 5568 and the WCAG web guidelines at level AA, as far as that applies.

Where the site stands

The site was built and checked with those requirements in mind. Automated checks (with axe-core) and manual keyboard checks were done, and the issues found in them were fixed. A formal conformance review by an accessibility professional has not been done, so we do not claim that the site fully meets the standard or the guidelines.

What the site includes

  • A “Skip to main content” link at the start of every page, available from the keyboard.
  • A semantic structure: headings in a consistent order, marked navigation regions, and a label on every form field.
  • A visible focus indicator on every interactive control.
  • Overlays (the bag, search, the menu, the size guide, and the image view) open as a modal: focus moves into the window and stays there, Escape closes it, and focus returns to the button that opened it.
  • Screen-reader announcements for the main actions, such as adding to the bag, changing a quantity, search results, and a size-selection error.
  • Alternative text for images that carry content, and decorative images hidden from assistive technology. The alternative text is the piece's name and type, not a description of the scene.
  • Text contrast of at least 4.5:1 in the site's ordinary design.
  • Respect for the device's “reduce motion” setting: animations and transitions stop when it is on.
  • A responsive layout for different screen sizes, including a phone, and support for browser zoom.
  • Full right-to-left layout in Hebrew, and left-to-right layout in English.

The accessibility menu

A button labelled “Accessibility” sits in the corner of the screen and opens a menu with these options: larger or smaller text, higher contrast, highlighted links, stopped animations, a more readable font, and a reset. The settings stay only in the browser where they were chosen, and they work on top of the browser and device accessibility settings — not instead of them. The menu is an extra convenience. The adaptations listed above work without it.

Keyboard

  • Tab and Shift+Tab — move between links, buttons, and fields.
  • Enter or Space — activate a button or a link.
  • Escape — close an overlay.
  • Arrow keys — move through the product rail on the home page and through product images (the forward arrow follows the reading direction), and between sizes on a product page. Home and End — jump to the start and the end of the rail.

Known limits

  • Checkout happens on Shopify's secure payment pages, which we do not control. We are glad to help finish an order by phone if that is difficult.
  • Alternative text for product images is built from the name and the type of the piece. It does not describe the photograph. A more detailed description is available if you ask us.
  • Some campaign photographs include the brand mark as part of the image. It is decorative and carries no information.
  • The site has not yet been tested thoroughly with every common screen reader and browser.
